Testing Testing, One, Two, Three

Thanks so much to everyone for their comments, and the feedback regarding our sound issues. Right now, we're recording on 2 sources, a portable iRiver, and on our laptop with one microphone. Surprisingly enough, the iRiver episodes actually sound better than our desktop mic, and that's because when shopping for a mic, I tried to go the economic route, one mic for 2 people. There are 2 different kinds of mics - an omnidirectional, that records all of the sound in the room, and a cardioid mic, which picks up what it is aimed at. The problem with the omnidirectional is that it picks up everything in the room (you think the beagles are loud now . . .), and the cardioid - well, we are 2 people.

What we really need is a mixer, and 2 mics, and I'm working on it.

In the meantime, I promise that we will both do a better job at sitting directly in front of the mic, and I will do my best to manually turn Knitty D down (with Audacity, not a smack, or anything like that).

Thanks again, and I will work on our sound issues . . .

Episode 10 Show Notes; Live from Cape Cod

Hi from Cape Cod everyone! Jealous?

Before I left, Wendy and I recorded episode 10 of Knitty D and the City. We celebrated with cake (yum from Genardi's) and lots of good chatting about, what else, yarn! and knitting! and stitch markers!

New to the podcast? Want to catch up on old episodes? Check out our archives on our blog, knitty d and the city or you can go to Podcast Alley or Podcast Pickle (links on the blog).

What am I working on? In a moment of weakness after falling apart with North Sea, I cast on the baby blanket from the 3 piece baby set by Blue Sky Alpacas. Instead of doing it in Blue Sky, I'm making it in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran in a lovely PEA GREEN color. That way, if the kid barfs on it, no worries.

Congrats to Wendy for finishing Tulip, Clapotis and Icarus. You go girl. See her finished projects on her blog knit and the city.

Don't forget to check out knitty.com for some great (free) patterns including Clapotis and Ella.

Another blog we enjoy reading, knit and tonic. See another of the Wendy knitters.

You can score some of the cashmere I made clapotis in (Estelle) at Loop. The colors are DELICIOUS!

We reviewed the mose recent issues of Vogue Knitting and Interwave Knits as well as two issues of Rebecca

Don't do Rowan; here is the ball gown in kidsilk night

An update, since we recorded the podcast, I received my knit picks needles AND my Lisa Souza Sock yarn. I love them both. More on that in the next podcast.

Got a palm pilot or a treo? Download knitable software as recommended by Wendy.

Welcom back PRISONBREAK!!!

Finally, JOIN OUR KNIT-A-LONG! Go to The Black Bunny Hop A Long Blog for details and links to the shops where you can buy your very own black bunny fiber(s). More to come, including an interview with the Matron of Black Bunny herself, Carol.

Okay, I'm off to the beach, or to play tennis, or to knit or to nap.

Peace, love and yarn,
Knitty D

Old Episodes

Thanks so much to everyone who has been inquiring about our earlier episodes. I have no clue why they aren't in iTunes - my technogeekdom only goes so far. You can go to our archives on the sidebar, and download them straight from the website. Or, you can click on Podcast Alley or Podcast Pickle. The last time I checked, all of our episodes were there as well.

Knitty D and I recorded Episode 10 today, so I'll try to get that out to you this week.

Happy Knitting!

Episode 9-Show Notes; Sadly no singing...

Hey all...hope youve have enjoyed our most recent episode. I've had a little problem with insomnia this week and thus, haven't been up to snuff when it comes to writing show notes...Bare with me here and hope that the drugs kick in soon

When visiting lovely Southeastern Pennsylvania, don't forget to check out the attractions in the Brandywine Valley including
Longwood Gardens
Winterthur
The Dansko Outlet &
The Chadds Ford Winery. Though I wouldn't recommend the whites...

This week we visited two yarn shops,
The Wool Gathering in Kennett Square
and The Garden of Yarn in Chadds Ford (no website!)

Don't forget to check out
Carol's Black Bunny Yarn Itsy Shop or Rosie's Yarn Cellar to stock up on your Black Bunny for Knitty D and the City's first KNIT-A-LONG. Stay tuned to the website for updates on the KAL which we will likely be starting after we return from Cape Cod. This will be a bit of a different KAL in that there isn't ONE project we'll be knitting, but a "brand" of yarn we will be highlighting in different projects!

Wendy hopes to make the Adamus Shawl from MimKnits when she finishes Icarus (Interweave Summer 2006).

When visiting The Wool Gathering, we highly suggest lunching or drinking at The Half Moon Restaurant and Saloon. Try the crab nachos and the buffalo burgers (you heard right, 98% fat free)!

Wendy tried to explain Socks Wars but I still don't get it.

Find the pattern for Jaywalkers at Magknits. Thank Grumperina regularly for such a GREAT pattern.

Check out Wendy's blog to see photos of her recently completed Tulip...knit with the yarn she scored on our yarn tour of Chester County. This pattern is by our old pal and knitting teaching Lisa Maso...check out her blog and her new book @ My Life in Stitches.

Don't forget, if you've made a Wallabee, send your yardage estimates to Wendy; she needs guidance and suggestions.

Coming up Our Cast On Diet (also known as I MUST FINISH THIS!), Cape Cod Road Trip, more obsessive Anne purchasing and planning for NYS Sheep and Wool...

Peace, Love and ICE CREAM for everyone!
